8 Days Explorer Cruise / Sitka – Prince Rupert
1
Sitka
Afternoon departure for Sitka Sound. There is an astonishing amount of wildlife here including humpback whales, puffins and many other seabirds, sea otters and sea lions. This is a wonderful area to dive, paddle, go ashore with our naturalist or just relax on the upper deck.
2
Sitka Sound
More exploration of Sitka Sound.
3
Sitka Sound, Yasha Island, Baranoff Hot Springs
Today is another great day with stops at the stellar sea lion colony at Yasha Island (and the chance to get way up close with either our kayaks or your scuba diving gear). More grizzly bear watching. And a soak in Baranoff Hot-springs.
4
Coronation Island
Weather permitting we will visit Coronation Island. This preserve is way off the beaten track and not visited by any other pocket cruise ships. Spectacular vertical cliffs, hundreds of thousands of birds, deserted beaches, sea caves and great diving, kayaking and fishing are just a few of it's features. Anchor overnight in a beautiful steep-sided fjord.
5
Dundas Island, Alaska
One more day exploring Coronation Island and perhaps venturing 8 miles offshore to the Hazy Islands - one of the biggest stellar sea lion rookeries on the coast with over 6000 animals. These islands are the very top of two volcanoes and just peak above the surface.
6
Wrangell Narrows, Le Conte Glacier
Calving glaciers, icebergs and a beautiful inlet pretty well sums up our day in LeConte Glacier. The icebergs here are the largest that we have ever seen anywhere! Guests will have lots of time to kayak and climb around on the icebergs. Later today we will transit the scenic and twisting waterway of Wrangell Narrows.
7
Dundas Island, Foggy Bay
Foggy Bay and Dundas Island are on the itinerary for today. Foggy Bay is famous for it's population of black bears. And Dundas Island is considered by locals to be the hotspot for fishing and diving.
8
Prince Rupert
This morning we will disembark in Prince Rupert for your connecting flight back.
