  Whitehorse / Marsh Lake
The northern lights, aurora borealis, are of one of God's greatest gifts to the north and they are perhaps the most spectacular natural phenomenon on earth. Nothing can rival the experience of watching them, awash in vibrant colors, dance across the sky to speak to the moon in mystical voices.

02 Blachford Lake
To experience northern lights to the fullest potential you have to get away from city lights and the "light glow " of any populated areas. The lodge is fly in only - there are no other camps or cabins within many miles - you are in the true wilderness with no light obstructions to hinder your view of aurora. The main lodge was designed with aurora viewing in mind. All bedrooms offer prime viewing as do the dining, lounge areas, aurora room, decks, sauna deck and hot tub.

For added comfort of aurora watchers preferring to be on the lake ice, we provide an insulated tent and wood heater a 3-minute walk from the lodge. Hot chocolate, tea and snacks are always waiting you in the main lodge while our special midnight soup and " beaver tails " will warm you up after being awed by aurora. Many guests admit the best place for aurora viewing may be from the hot tub. Imagine yourself: Its minus 25 and yet you have drink in hand, warm and cozy in 104 degree hot tub bubbling water watching a dazzling display of aurora above you... Ahhhhh! Could life be better ?

But aurora watching is just one of the many activities that makes a stay at Blachford special. Traverse endless bush trails by snowmobile or on a toboggan behind a team of huskies or build a quinzhee snow hut and sleep under the stars. Whatever the activity or time of the year, the north's majesty surrounds Blachford Lake Lodge and embraces in its spirit.

The lodge was started in 1981. The resort sits at the west end of remote 17 kilometer long Blachford Lake, just north of the east arm of Great Slave Lake. Accommodation for 38 include 5 rustic but comfortable log cabins and a new main lodge with full bathroom facilities. A traditional 18' teepee, BBQ and picnic area, and open decks are available for various activities. Guests can also enjoy a sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi Hot Tub.
