Outside, miles of hiking and walking trails wander through thousands of acres of old-growth forest, connecting resort guests to secluded beaches, two private lakes, a natural waterfall-fed pool, and endless shoreline teeming with wildlife. Fresh local seafood and produce are highlights of an ever changing, critically acclaimed menu. Picnic lunches and dinners can be prepared for meals on the go or intimate excursions. A typical unstructured might begin, picnic-in-hand with a leisurely stroll or mountain bike ride up sun-dappled Alder Alley to a vast valley meadow bisected by ribbons of timber fencing, and dotted with aging silver-grey barns. With snow-capped mountains and glaciers as a backdrop, and pristine wilderness all around, there is no more perfect place for a picnic. State-of-the-art equipment is available for the taking, including mountain bikes and helmets; fishing rods, tackle and bait; kayaks, canoes, life preservers, site maps, gold pans, and backpacks.

Nestled among lush fern gardens and ancient cedars, a campus of artfully composed treatment rooms and intimate spaces welcomes visitors. An outdoor lakewater shower, waterfall-fed pool, steamy cedar hot tubs, meditation decks and secluded outdoor massage platforms create a healing grounds complemented by the energy of the ages. Inside, holistic therapies are administered in calming, comforting seclusion. Warm fingers of sunlight filter In through vast panes of glass. Interiors are decidedly west coast and organic surfaces like warm woods, polished slate, iron and polished metal ground an entirely holistic space that marries eastern and aboriginal sensibilities.

Land and water transfers are complimentary for resort guests.

A Typical Day at Quait Bay A visit to the Quait Bay begins at leisure with a personal tour of the resort and oral history of the historic property. Introductions to the activities director, spa manager, and the Chef make guests feel right at home.

Spend the balance of the afternoon at the beautiful Healing Grounds Spa, enjoy a hike around one of the resorts two private lakes, or perhaps paddle Quait Bay in search of peace and quiet refuge. A return to the great room for late afternoon hors d'oeuvres and cocktails is just the thing to shake-off the last remnants of civilization. At around 7 p.m., guests settle in for dinner by a bay-view window, or pull up to the open-kitchen bar. The balance of the evening unfolds at a leisurely pace, against a backdrop of the resorts legendary four-course table d'hote dinner, and in the company of new friends. At some point in the evening, the spa manager and activities director will stop by for a visit, to inspire and tempt guests with indulgent spa services and super natural adventures being offered the following day. The choice is yours, and the opportunities for adventure, limited by imagination alone. But take it easy, because here in the rainforest, time passes slowly. Go slow, enjoy the ride. Following après-dinner coffee and brandy at fireside, the great room starts to empty and evening returns a deafening hush as guests retire to their rooms, to the steamy hot tub overlooking the phosphorescent bay, or to the lower television lounge. After a blissful sleep, guests begin their day with in-room coffee, or in the great room with an expansive breakfast and breathtaking views. And so it goes at Quait Bay -- no two days the same in this remote, refined, remarkable, untamed wilderness frontier.
