04/07 Day Bowron Lakes Canoe Outfitter
CBC#02 Bowron Lakes Outfitting Service
Bowron Lake Provincial Park, a world- renowned wildlife sanctuary, is a rectangular chain of lakes and interconnecting rivers - which forms this planet's most spectacular canoe circuit. Abundant wildlife and a rich flora, set amidst a backdrop of azure lakes and huge glaciated mountain peaks, provide a truly inspirational setting for the canoeist, photographer, bird watcher and nature lover. Outside Magazine ranks this canoe trip as “ one of the top 10 canoe trips in the world.” The 116 km route through the scenic Cariboo Mountains is comprised of 6 major lakes and a series of connecting streams, rivers and portages. On portages we are using specially designed canoe-carts which allow canoes and equipment to be wheeled between the lakes. Enjoy one truly great wilderness adventures in BC at peak spring and fall (color) dates.

Itinerary
01
The Bowron Lakes Chain has been rated as one of the ten best paddling trips in the world. It's no wonder. There may be no other place in the world where you can start and finish a canoe trip in the same place and never travel over the same water twice. Every day is a completely different experience. Imagine an enormous rectangle. You begin by paddling eastward across the top, penetrating deep into the Cariboo Mountains. Paddling down the east side, you are exposed to rugged mountain scenery and beautiful vistas, incredible sunsets. Moving back west, across the bottom of the circuit, we travel through stunning river and lake country, slicing our way under rugged glaciated peaks. Returning back up the west side of the rectangle we are treated to small lakes, sandy beaches, marshes and abundant wildlife. Other than portages, there are only two developed trails in the park, which are all accessed from the Canoe Circuit. These are short trails to viewpoints of Cariboo River Falls and Hunter Lake.

The Bowron Lakes are considered the quintessential lake canoeing experience in Canada. The 116 km route, through the Cariboo Mountains, is comprised of 6 major lakes and a series of connecting streams, rivers and portages. The portages of the Bowron Lakes are made easier through the use of specially designed carts which allow canoes and equipment to be wheeled between lakes. We compliment our canoeing with some short hikes to view the Isaac River cascades and the impressive Cariboo Falls. Campsites along the Bowron Lakes, set aside for our sole use, ensure the solitude so necessary for a meaningful wilderness experience. Besides its natural beauty, the Bowron Lakes are a wildlife sanctuary. Paddlers may see beavers, bears, otters, and moose feeding by the waterways. The Bowron River estuary is a birdwatcher's paradise with an immense variety of bird life, including coots, mergansers, widgeon, mallards and Canadian geese
