Saltwater Fishing at Hakai Beach Resort
|
The Hakai Pass Area is situated approximately 3 - 4 miles off-shore of the mainland on the Central Coast of
British Columbia. Several local streams and rivers produce world record fish.
In addition to local salmon runs, fish stocks from as far away as the Fraser, Columbia and Vancouver Island
Rivers track through Hakai Pass resulting in consistent fishing action as run after run of monster salmon navigate
these waters gorging on the abundant schools of herring, squid and needle fish.
The International Game Fish Association world record Chinook caught on 20# test line was taken at Odlum
Point, a 10 minute boat ride from our dock, and tipped the scales at 85.5 pounds. Other records include the
largest Chum caught on 20# test weighing in at 28.5 pounds and the world’s largest salmon, a Chinook nicknamed
"Smiley" commercially trapped at Cape Calvert, Calvert Island, approximately 8 miles from Hakai
Beach Resort. The scale stopped just shy of an astounding 127 pounds. Our professional guides get you to the
"Hot Spots" in a hurry providing the assistance you choose, from chauffeur for the pros to hands-on
for the novice.
Comfortable, stable and safe Boston Whalers, smokeless and reliable Honda four stroke engines, Mustang
all weather gear, Sage and Daiwa rods, Islander and Daiwa reels - only the best equipment. All boats are
equipped with depth sounders, VHF radios, marine charts and compasses. Guides carry Global Positioning
Systems (GPS) for those rare foggy mornings.
