BCC #10 Slocan Lake Cabins – Kootenay Area
Overview: The Slocan Valley in the West Kootenay area of British Columbia is located just north of the U.S. border, midway between Vancouver, B.C. and Calgary, Alberta. Whether your plans include hiking the magnificent Valhalla Mountains, enjoying the pristine waters of Slocan Lake - or if you simply want a place to get away from it all, this tranquil Valley has everything. Museums, ghost towns and old mines tell the story of the silver rush of the 1890’s. And tucked away in the midst of these mountains, lakes and rivers is Blue Sky resort. Hike the spectacular mountains of Valhalla and Kokanee Glacier Parks and White Grizzly Wilderness area. An easy trip to Idaho Peak will reward you with alpine wildflowers and a tremendous panorama of the surrounding mountains and Slocan Lake. The refreshing waters of Slocan Lake offer excellent opportunities for swimming, boating and fishing. Take a ride on the wild side - on horseback or on a mountain bike. Play golf or tennis just short drive away. Experience the Silvery Slocan Heritage Tour, or soak in one of the area’s several hot springs.

Valhalla Wilderness: This park was created to protect the diverse topography, majestic peaks and unique vegetation typical of the Selkirk Mountains. There are many opportunities here for the backcountry adventurer. Several beaches for boaters - some for waterskiers and others for canoeists. Varied and abundant hiking opportunities from short walks to wilderness treks and mountain climbing. The park has opportunities for a number of recreational activities including hiking, fishing and wildlife viewing.

Chalet Accommodation: The carefully crafted log cottages of Blue Sky Resort blend naturally into the beautiful landscape. The use of natural materials is also reflected in the wood furniture, hardwood flooring, and the cozy bedding. Upstairs are two luxurious bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and one with two single beds.
